Ashtanga Yoga Space is a yoga school committed to the teachings of Sri. K. Pattabhi Jois, R. Sharath Jois and Saraswathi of Mysore India.

 

MYSORE-STYLE PRACTICE

 

Students with a regular or previous self-practice can choose to join morning mysore class at any point in the month. It is recommended you join on a monthly pass. Class registration, booking & class pass payment is now online.

Mysore-style classes are held during the following timeslots (practice any time in the following window):

 

Monday to Friday: 6am – 8am (DOORS OPEN 5.30AM)

Sunday: 6.30am - 8.30am (DOORS OPEN 6AM)

 

THE CHANT 

The Opening Chant is done at the following times every week. Please see Links for a translation and to listen to Gurruji chanting in class: 

Monday – Friday: 6.00am / 

Sunday: 6.30am

 

 

FIRST FRIDAY OF THE MONTH - PRIMARY SERIES LED CLASS          

The First Friday class of every month will be a led class held from 6am to 7.15am. Please join us after class for a group breakfast at a local cafe.

These special led classes for 2013 fall on the following days:

March 1, April 5, May 3, June 7, July 5, August 2, September 6, October 4, November 1, December 6.

BEGINNERS: WELCOME TO ASHTANGA YOGA

 

HOW TO START YOUR PRACTICE:

Step 1

Please join us at the start of every month and book into our monthly beginner courses (see Course Information for dates). Commence your practice in small groups of up to 5. Practice in 4 week blocks with 2 set classes per week.

Step 2

After your first  beginner month then re-join to commence a more independent practice in the second month. This will be individually guided and determined by your teacher.

Step 3

After 2 x Beginner Months please join us in the Mysore class on a class pass. Payment and booking is done online.

No experience (OR FLEXIBILITY ) is necessary!  Just an openness to learn and discover whether this yoga is meant for you. 

 

SPECIAL CLASSES & COURSES IN 2012

Inner Circle Guided Led Classes with Fiona Parker

Guided Led Classes held on Mondays from 10am – 11am in Bondi Junction. Contact Fiona via email for booking enquiries.


YOGA APPRECIATION: Yoga Philosophy & Study Workshop Course with Fiona Parker.

The aim of each module is to explore on a deeper level elements of the Ashtanga practice and Yoga as a whole. It will be run over 4 x 8 week terms on the below dates. The course is for students that have an existing practice and are interested in discovering more about the practice and themselves. 

Module Class Dates

Term 1:  Tuesday February 12 – April 2 2013

Term 2:  Tuesday April 30 – June 18

Term 3:  Tuesday July 16 – September 3

Term 4:  Tuesday October 8 – November 26

NB: All Thursday classes commence at 7.30pm and conclude at 9.00pm

Module Weekend Workshops: Private and Group

These will focus on areas we have covered during the course and how to integrate them in your practice on the mat.

1.     Private Workshop: This will be scheduled on one Saturday or Sunday afternoon during the module. The class will be 1 hour in duration. Timeslots will be allocated on commencement of each module.

2.     Group Intensive: This asana intensive will be scheduled on a Moon Day morning during the module. The class will be 2 hours in duration. The date will be confirmed with the group on commencement of each module

Course Fee

The fee per module will be $800+gst. All course fees include full course materials and study notes, Tuesday night tuition, private workshop and group intensive. Attendance is on application and module fees to be paid by the commencement of each Term on a successful application.
